heyhey. I didn't know crazy, mentally deranged people still existed in this world. Anyway, I'm back from my wonderfully adventurous trip to Genting! not. okay it was miraculously possible to actually be there, but it wasn't miraculously without hiccups either [considering the fact we got the rooms a day before] My mum says nothing's free in this world so if we get lucky, something unlucky would probably happen to us. I'm not making sense right. Let's just start at the very beginning. Saturday 14th JuneWe set out at around 10am. yes, it's not exactly when everyone else is still under the blankets. heh heh. still had to run some last-minute errands. e.g. change money. so we reached Johor Bahru at around 12nn. my father the pro took over at least 100 cars in the long queue at the customs. my mum says she salutes him. aww, how loving. haha. It was quite a long drive up to Genting. The coach Aunty Amy took took bout 7h to reach the mountain. For my dad, 4h would suffice. heh heh. I didn't sleep a wink throughout while my two sisters were surprisingly quiet. Hmmm except maybe the snoring..zzZ. I love the highway part and was looking forward to it but somehow, papa took a wrong turn and ended up at some unknown place. He made a few turns..ended up at the same spot. eventually, we asked this uncle--wearing a "engineering services" windbreaker--riding a motorbike for directions. thankfully, we found the highway and was on the right track again. so, we arrived destination 101 (just a retarded name we made up) Genting at about 5pm. We went to Genting Palace Restaurant for dinner. mm-mmm. Took a stroll and went back to the room. Oh yeah Rush Hour 3 was on. so i watched it. heh heh.Sunday 15th JuneWoke up to screaming and the music of carousels going round and round. We had a wonderful view of the entire outdoor theme park below. we were on the 17th floor actually. i love Resort Hotel! We ate...Macs for breakfast cos all these monkeys were hopping excited to go for the rides. Well, i was too. until i found out i was supposed to take care of the youngest monkey. or rather, all 3 of them. whoa thanks. The first ride was always Spinner. Just that we usually go for it once or twice before moving on. This time, I was swinging my head off i couldn't count anymore. apparently, GlynnisKhooLiLin actually managed to reach the minimum height requirement and tried. After that, she bugged me to go for the ride for more than 10 times. I was lucky my breakfast stayed in. I didn't realise what i was getting myself into. It was supposed to carry on till 12am. Not that i'm old or anything, but it sure required lots of stamina to be running all over the theme park, going for rides. This time, i braced myself for Space Shot, Corkscrew and Crazy Space Lab. Considered "New" to me cos i've never tried those before. Space shot was...frightening. i felt like i was floating away as an angel...both literally and...whatever this is. cos my butt was flying off the seat, and i felt like i could die. and when i die, i'd naturally become an angel [insert halo here] ok i shall stop crapping. Crazy Space Lab was really crazy and disappointing. You just sit in a..rocking chair (the ahma kind of rocking, not stimulation ride kind) and see the luminous ceiling scroll by, pretending to be scared of that mentally deranged alien trying to get out of the glass box by knocking his head against it. and whoooaaa, it's over. Corkscrew was fun!! it turned upside down twice. the ride was only 1min42sec. By lunchtime, i was dizzy and nauseous. not to mention, dead beat. my mum delivered Burger King up to the room and we watched Dora the Explorer. yes, it's total fastfood day. damaging. I wanted to sleep all the way till dinner but was dragged out to the theme park again. my mum tried to escape and pleaded with that "pretty please with a cherry on top", a.k.a "i'm your mother and you can't possibly defy me" look to "take over" looking after Glynnis Khoo as she put it. so for the rest of the day, i was basically SPINNing around and going for family rides. [like whoa! that's dinosaurland! oh my! i'm frightened by the T.Rex. oooh let's go for the Teacup ride. like omg. is that a double-decked carousel? Hey let's go for the spinner again!! i wanna freeze my teeth into ice cubes and dislocate my arm while in the air!!] Sarcasm hinted. Ahh i miss the good old thrill rides. So before rushing back for dinner, we went for Flying Dragon. After the indescribably long queue (did i just describe it?), it was finally our turn. 2 monkeys found their seats and another was left with me. We were like half into the carriage when this uncle said, "Eh she wants to sit here." *points to his wife with son tagging along* And i guess i was just too tired to say anything, i just walked to look for another seat. But there were only loner ones. and that would be impossibible to leave my monkey alone. Oh bother. And the absolutely
abhorrent, abominable, detestable, disgusting, distasteful, foul, fulsome, hateful, hideous, horrendous, loathsome, nasty, nauseating, odious, offensive, repellent, repugnant, revolting, sickening, slimy, ugly, unpleasant, unspeakable, vile uncle just stared at me blankly. I had to fight for my rights!! I couldn't just stand there and get bullied!! Not after waiting for half an hour in the queue!!
Basically, I waited for the next ride.
And Ah Yat Abalone and Shark's Fin Restaurant was quite posh, just that the airconditioning had to break down. oh well. I wanted to protest against shark's fin but my mum said, "after you finish this bowl then protest lah" Oh Ha-di-Ha. I don't even know how i managed to survive dinner. I was practically snoozing in my bowl of noodles. What's worse, we haven't even started at the indoor theme park. We had to wait till the whole cake-cutting thing was over. oh it was for father's day. by then, it was 9plus. less than 3hours. oh wells. Here comes the puppy dog, oh-so-loving eyes again. This time, i've become smarter. Glenda said in a very diplomatic manner, "Mum, we need to talk. Terms and Conditions apply. Terms are: I waste precious time, not to mention energy on kiddy rides like dinosaurland which is nothing besides a boat on a river filled with dead fishes and a cave with dinosaurs roaring at you. the queue was also horrendous. I had to forgo unlimited thrill rides for sitting in a teacup and forcing myself to think it's extremely enjoyable being tea. Earlier, you told me to bring the monkeys to the carousel at 12nn to meet for lunch. I stood there for 1h, watching more than 2000 people pass by and the merry-go-round song stuck in my head i could sing it in my sleep, but you didn't show up. Besides, I was worried that you could have got caught by some serial killer. Well, i guess it helps telling me you were talking on the phone until you lost track of time. Maybe while you're on the phone, you could also try and multi-task. Like walk and talk. that's what mothers do best. Oh I'm suggesting the next time you intend to bring any monkey below age 7, you bring the babysitter along too. Conditions are: Now, you tell me." Obviously i did not say that to my mother. But she was kinda bribing me with clothes that she'd buy for me. shoots. i should have given her a list man. but it's not the clothes i want!!! I want to be able to walk around freely and choose my own clothes. You don't even need to buy anything. just shopping with me would suffice. seriously. and lemme analyse what i did all night. i sent off 2 monkeys to the roller coaster cos they have different...target rides from the little one. then, i went to queue for the Reindeer Cruiser. It's just like a sightseeing ride. Not suitable for acrophobics. it's kinda high. Somehow, the little monkey loves it. After that, we took Rio Float. deja vu or what. exact same thing, just the reindeer part differ. 2 rounds of that and we're off to the ferris wheel. haha it was our turn when she backed out. her expression: priceless. didn't know she would be scared of ferris wheels. when she loved the outdoor one. puzzling. Here's the absolute understatement [it should be an understatement that it is an understatement] of the whole trip: I cannot believe I went for Euro Express or Adult Bumper Car NOT even ONCE the whole time. which means i did not go for them AT ALL. okay it may not be a very big deal but the last time i went, it was like euro express-->bumper car-->euro express-->bumper car until 1am. that's what i'm talking about. ah. forget it. the next time i visit, i'll not even wanna buy the ticket for theme parks. i'll be too sick of it. oh wow Sunday was a long day. went back and watched Big Daddy for a while. to think i even had the energy to open my eyes and watch tv. *Advised to take a break, look out the window... before continuing.*Monday 16th JuneThis time, even a gong couldn't wake me up. I woke up at 9.30am to find that we were going home. Went for a cuppa and toast before beginning the journey downhill. They were contemplating to drop by Malacca for dinner at this nice Teochew restaurant. We always patron them and there's sentimental value and everything. I estimated we'll reach Malacca at 3pm, considering papa's speed. So we had time to walk around before dinner. Unfortunately, the car was a little temperamental on the way down and when we reached the highway, it broke down into depression. We saw smoke coming out of the front and my father went to check it out. He saw a little spark of fire and my mum was like, "EVACUATE!" my sisters were being hysterical, as usual, and screamed. haha. i told you i've got a dysfunctional family. now even the car's dysfunctional. well, it is a part of the family. To make things worse, it started drizzling. I guess it helped put out the tiny flame. We stood under this toll booth for a while, poking and peeking about, waiting for the car to cool down. my dad was consoling it, pouring water into this...place. After an hour, it didn't feel better. It was already 2pm. I suspect it has a fever...burnt its brain. anyway, my mum tried contacting coach bus companies but the coaches don't stop along the way to pick passengers. We had to board the coach in Genting to be able to get home. which is just impossibible cos we'd have to scale the mountain we just drove down from. So we were just sitting around and praying for a miracle when a car stopped by. Oh right. the toll booths were opening. false alarm. To think there were kind and helpful people in the world, they were just heading for the toll booths. then, i saw a taxi. My father hailed it and we took our neccessary stuff and was on our way to a bus terminal in KL. It could only fit 7 people so papa and errol stayed with the car and waited for the tow truck. we dropped off in front of KFC so yeah, that's our lunch. while my mum and edwin went to scout for tickets. Goodness me. the bus terminal was noisy, dirty, hazy, stuffy and crowded. It was around 4.30 when we finished lunch and our bus would arrive at 5.30pm. so we just walked around the bus terminal. the bus was an hour late and by then, everyone was tired and frustrated because of the long wait. I was beside the baby monkey and my mum and the rest were scattered, cos it was leftover tickets. And, my seat was right at the back. It was kinda noisy, the vibration of the engine. I was just listening to music the whole way...slept for a while. oh we passed by our father once. we saw the tow truck blinking. how cool. anyway, we reached Singapore at midnight. we were dropped off at...somewhere. So we took a taxi home. Not only did we have to listen to uncle rant about how tiring his job is and how little money he earns and how much the government takes...we have to pay the midnight surcharge. and, he makes the tortoise look like it won the olympics. there's either a problem with his driving skills or his taxi. it jerks every millimeter it travels, slowing down the whole journey. i was just glad to be home. i think this trip was really different from all the others...not in a good way. but in a challenging way. goodness. why does everything remind me of obs now?? heh heh i'm random.Tuesday 17th JuneWent for stockchecking with only 4h of sleep. managed to finish packing the mpr in 3h:D who's the pro? i wanna thank all the people who came, you've been a great help!! taking the trouble to come and everything..i'm so touched. haha. oh sheeeet. i haven't updated the list!! ahh. ahh. ahh. ahh. i kinda took 4h to do this. with lots of stuff undone.1. 5 newspaper articles2.
